Glimpse Into Our History

How It All Started
Moison Ace Hardware was founded in 1922 by George L. Moison and located on the corner of Hollis Street and Willowdale Road.

In the late 1930s, the store was relocated to the corner of Main Street and Station Avenue, currently the Bank of America.

In 1943, the store relocated to where Salt and Light is currently located. It was the home of the Post Office until a fire destroyed the the third and part of the second floor of the building. In 1978 the store underwent an extensive remodel with new fixtures to make better use of the space in modern times.

In 1986, George L. Moison’s great grandson Rick Sargent took over the family business, and in 1988 joined Ace Hardware Corporation, which is the largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative in the industry, known as “The Helpful Place”.
The store underwent an extensive remodel in the Spring of 2023 of both the interior and exterior of the building, overhauling and modernizing every department greatly expanding the assortment of products and services the store provides to the community.
The company bought the present property in 1992, formerly Bruce Pharmacy, demolished the building and built a new one with plenty of off street parking, expanding all departments to better serve the community’s needs. The store received Ace Hardware’s Premier Nationwide Ace Retailer Award in 1994.

In April of 2008, a second store was opened in Bedford, MA in the former location of Santoro’s Hardware, managed by Rick Sargent’s son Neil. In 2012, Neil was promoted to General Manager, and in 2022 President of Moison Ace Hardware.
The Bedford location underwent significant renovations in the Spring of 2022, modernizing and expanding the products and services the store provides to better serve community needs.
Both locations are committed to being “The Helpful Place” by offering customers knowledgeable advice, helpful service, and quality products. As the Helpful Place, we promise that “helping you is the most important thing we have to do today”.
